Mud, mud and more mud!

parkrun – Striders represented at Harrogate, Fountains Abbey and York

It was a muddy Stray that greeted 4 Striders on Saturday morning. Gareth Conkleton was first back, clocking a time of 23:27. Tony Everitt was next with a time of 27:53, and he was joined by volunteer pacer Clare McKenzie (30:52) and Rob Charlesworth (30:54).

At Fountains Abbey, Nicola Carter took the 1st Lady spot in a time of 21:51. Joining her were Phil Chatterton (25:00) and Liam Kennedy (32:09).

Over in York, James Wright and Guy Close were split by only 3 seconds, finishing in 19:30 and 19:33 respectively. Julian Carr joined them on the Knavesmire, recording a time 22:28.

Yorkshire Cross Country Championships

Sunday’s damp conditions made the Yorkshire Cross Country Championship course at Lightwater Valley even more challenging than usual for the 5 Striders in attendance. Starting with the Ladies, Sue Morley and Tracy Allison competed in a total field of 138 who took on 3 laps of the course. Sue finished in a time of 49:40, with Tracy stopping the clock on 58:54. In the Men’s race, which was a total of 5 laps of the course, Andy Robinson was first Strider home – finishing in 52:47. Not far behind was Sean Brennan, who recorded a time of 54:15. Club coach Eric Morley also took on the challenging course and finished with a time of 01:09:47. Well done to all who competed.
