Two parkrun events were visited by Striders on Saturday morning. At Harrogate, 6 Striders completed the “slightly less boggy then recent weeks” course, with Guy Close leading the way in a time of 20:01. Sean Brennan and Ian Mitchell were next back, split by only 8 seconds, to finish in 22:20 and 22:28 respectively. Nick Wallen recorded a time of 27:13 and he was joined by Rob Charlesworth just under a minute later (28:11) and Tracy Allison (28:52). At the Crystal Palace event in London, Tom Calvert had a speedy run to finish in 18:57.
Andy Robinson headed down to Donnington Park for the National Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. This is the first time the Striders have been represented at this event, which attracted a large field of 1730. Andy completed the 8 mile course in 01:00:50.
On Sunday, Dan Wilson made the short journey across to Harewood House to take on the British Heart Foundation Half Marathon. On an undulating course of mixed terrain, Dan completed the event in 01:36:20 to take 55th place out of 987 competitors.
Graham Yare completed the Brox Breaker Trail Marathon in Scalby, Scarborough on Sunday afternoon. A mix up with routing however meant that the majority of competitors, including Graham, ended up completing 30 miles! He completed the event in 06:36:41.
