Our weekly round-up starts with a belated WELL DONE to Dave Cremins who came 3rd in the Temple Newsam trail marathon on Sunday 17th April. He recorded a time of 04:06:09.
Moving onto this weekends results, it was a dry morning (for a change!) at parkrun. At Harrogate, Guy Close secured a course PB with a time of 19:22. He was joined by James Wright (19:51), a PB beating Paul Heywood (25:25), Eric Morley (26:44), Anthony Everitt (27:35), Rob Charlesworth (28:38), Tracy Allison (28:51) and Laura Baker, taking on her first parkrun, finished in 29:45. Over at Fountains Abbey, Andy Roberts secured a PB with a time of 22:00. Derek Calvert followed, stopping the clock on 22:43. At Crystal Palace, Tom Calvert took 5th place in 18:53.
Over Saturday and Sunday, Graham Yare took on the extremely challenging Hardmoors 110 mile race. The course starts at Filey Brigg, with the runners taking the Cleveland Way from there to Helmsley (via Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn, Roseberry Topping, Kildale, Wainstones, Osmotherly and an element of Sutton Bank. Graham completed the challenge in 33:47:39. Great effort!
Sean Brennan completed the Coniston Fell Race on Sunday. Weather conditions meant the course was altered but it was still a tough multi terrain event, including 2,345ft of climbing! Sean completed the 6.4 mile event in 01:31:38.
After the Tour De Yorkshire had made its way through Kirkbymoorside on Sunday, the annual 10k took place. Dawn Richardson was the first Strider across the line, securing a 10k PB in 56:19. Andrea Price was just over two minutes behind, stopping the clock on 58:35. Bill Kirkpatrick had a solid run to finish in 01:05:19.
At the Yorkshire Warrior event, based at Rudding Park, the club was represented in both the 5 and 10 mile races. Graham Taylor took a podium spot in the 5 mile race, finishing 3rd (out of 828) in a time of 55:17. Sima Lowery and Nicola Carter particiapted in the 10 mile event as part of the ‘Rigton Renegades’ team and completed the obstacle course in just over 03:35:00.
