Pacing and PB’s – Weekly Results

Fun at the Fair
The club had another successful takeover of Harrogate parkrun to kick off the weekend, with the course taking participants through the middle of the fun fair! Many thanks to all who volunteered to make the event a success. In terms of runners, Keith Emery missed out on top spot by just 1 second but did achieve a PB with a speedy time of 17:41. Rob Earl, the first of our volunteer pacers, recorded 20:09 and he was followed throght the middle of the Fun Fair by Jason Green (21:07 – PB), Julian Carr (22:50 – pacer), Nicola Carter (23:46 – pacer), Andrew Robinson (24:54 – pacer), Tony Everitt (26:37), Tracy Allison (27:33 – pacer) and Dawn Richardson (43:15 – tail runner). A bit of parkrun tourism
We had two runners take in some parkrun tourism whilst away from the Knaresborough area. In the Lake District at Keswick, Guy Close clocked a time of 18:34. Down in Dorset, Tom Calvert visited the Blandford Forum event and achieved a time of 17:49.

Sunday = Race Day
We had club representation at two local races on Sunday – the Tholthorpe 10k and the Wetherby 10k.

Starting with Tholthorpe, new member James Ireland dipped under the 40 minute mark to finish in 39:22. Phil Cornforth was the next Strider across the line, completing the flat and fast course in 44:24. Returning from injury, Stewart Hymas clocked 47:08 and chasing him down was Anna Cornforth 47:44.

At Wetherby we had a fantastic turnout of 14 members for the latest club championship event. Nicola Carter was the first Strider across the line, securing a PB for the 10k distance with a time of 43:11. The ever improving Jason Green was just over a minute behind in 44:15, which also saw him a achieve a PB. Sean Brennan was just a second behind Jason (44:16) and he was joined at the Wetherby Racecourse based event by David Halladay (46:05), Andy Roberts (46:58), Derek Calvert (47:04), Mark Taylor (48:09 – PB), Paul Heywood (49:14 – PB), Sam Curnow (53:56 -PB), Dawn Richardson (56:58 – PB), Edna Wood (59:57 – PB), Anne Cooley 01:04:36, Alison Jackson 01:07:16 and Emma Greveson 01:12:20. Striders at the Wetherby 10k

On Sunday morning, James Warburton took on the Helvellyn Triathlon. Thus event is labelled as one of the hardest triathlons in the world due to it including a 1489ft climb on the bike to the top of Kirkstone and a run that includes 3118ft of climbing up and down Hellvellyn. James completed this epic event in 04:12:58.
