The great thing about parkrun is that once you have a barcode, you can visit any parkrun in the UK (or the world in fact!). Paul Heywood and Edna Wood took advantage of this whilst attending a wedding down South, visiting the Bogner Regis event. They finished the course in times of 23:13 and 28:40 respectively.
Harewood House was the venue for the Brownlee Triathlon on Saturday, with start times throughout the day. The club was represented by three members and were headed by James Warburton. He took 5th place overall with a time of 01:28:28. Dan Wilson was taking on his first ever Triathlon and finished in 02:06:34. Charlotte Hines took part in the event as part of a relay team, running the 5km last leg in a time of 32:49.
Also competing in an event on Saturday was Jason Green who took on the Yorkshire Warrior obstacle race at Ripley Castle, finishing in a time of 01:03:53.
Simon Shaw took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross challenge on Sunday morning. This super challenging event sees participants ride between the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire and where they can’t cycle due to terrain, etc. they have to carry their bike! Despite only just coming back from injury (suffered in training for the event), Simon completed the course in a great time of 04:33:59.
In Nottingham, Claire Killingworth completed her first ever half marathon in 01:57:55 – great work Claire!
Sunday was also a big day for our club, with the inaugural running of the ‘Knaresborough Crag Rat Run’. After months of planning, the event went off without a hitch and the club was well represented in the finishing field of 127. Jason Green was the first Strider back to the clubhouse, finishing in 35:44.
