Brass Monkey Weather…actually it was perfect conditions!

A fairly short round-up this week after the mass results published last week (hopefully you have all just about read it!). We start, as usual, with parkrun….

Calvert grabs a PB
At Harrogate, Tom Calvert secured a course PB with a finish time of 18:23…although the course was run in reverse so does that count Tom?! Paul Heywood continues to improve since his recent injury issues, recording a time of 24:05, just ahead of Ian Mitchell (24:08). Julie Elmes stopped the clock on 27:17, Samantha Young joined her across the line just over 2 minutes later in 29:26 and Gaynor Downs made her first visit to the Harrogate event, finishing in a time of 35:15 (great progress recently Gaynor!)

A FAbbey parkrun
Mark Taylor made his first ever visit to the Fountains Abbey parkun and clocked a time of 22:32. He was joined by David Halladay (28:12) and Edna Wood (28:12).

First race of the year…..Brass Monkey Half Marathon
Nine Striders headed over to York on Sunday morning for the first big local event of the year – the Brass Monkey Half Marathon. The weather was almost perfect for an event of this length – overcast, no wind and a slight drizzle. Guy Close was the first Strider over the line, securing an impressive time of 01:24:54 in his first attempt at the distance.
