Time Trial No2. – July 18th

An excellent turn out of 40 runners with some members new to this event.

A big thanks to all those who volunteered to Marshall and help in other areas, and to those who offered. It is always reassuring to have a good team behind you when putting on an event. After the run, plenty of folk stayed behind and enjoyed the Jez and Gill barbecue.

Results are here for those who have not seen them  TIME TRIAL No 2 JULY 18th

Burton Leonard 10k Mob Match

A big well done to  all the Striders about 35 who battled  a massive Nidd Valley team of plus 50 runners on the really tough Burton Leonard route, on a particularly hot day.

Although we did not  take back the Shield back from Nidd Valley  I could see from my scoring position what a tremendous effort was made by all  Striders

There was highlights though, Dave Christie took MV 50 prize,  Nicola took LV45 prize and our Ladies won the team event.

The after race event  arranged  by Nidd Valley, at Knaresborough Working men’s club included super food, cheap beer, a great atmosphere and the re-presentation of the Shield back to Nidd Valley by our Chairman Jez.  Results are available athttp://burtonleonard10k.co.uk  Read tweet bar next.

Go Striders— Next Year.

Time Trial and BBQ – Tuesday 18th July

Tomorrow evening (Tuesday 18th July) is our latest Time Trial event followed by the Summer BBQ.

If you would like to take part in the Time Trial, please arrive earlier then usual to make sure you are registered and have been allocated a number. Registration will be open from 19:10, with the TT starting at 19:35. If you haven’t taken part before, the course is 5km around the local area over two laps. Its a great way to see how your training is paying off and gives you the chance to set a time to beat at the next TT in September.

The BBQ is £1 for all of your food. We will have Burgers, Sausages, Salads and other bits and bobs, with vegetarians also catered for.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather – see you all there!

Washburn Valley Relays Round up

This event took place on Friday 14th July with Striders turning 5 teams – Two x Senior Men, 1 x Veteran Men and 2 x Senior Ladies team. The venue was the Car Park between Swinsty and Fewston reservoir.

There were many outstanding performances, so many of our teams looked strong on the final uphill. The Mens A team saw off a strong challenge from the B team. Next was Male Vets team, Ladies A and Ladies B. James Cornforth doubled up and did exceedingly well on both legs, unfortunately sister Anna was led astray on her leg by others!

Full results are at otleyac.org.uk (go to Washburn Relays heading).

Well done all – Eric

Post Burton Leonard 10k Gathering

After the Burton Leonard 10k (aka Mob Match versus Nidd Valley) on Sunday 16th July, there will be a social gathering in Knaresborough for all Striders and their families along with our friends (or should that be enemies?!) from Nidd Valley. You don’t have to take part in the BL10k to attend- it’s open to all our members.

NV have arranged for the Working Men’s Club on Kirkgate (just up the hill from the station) to be available from 15:00 until 19:00 as a private function. A buffet will be available for £3 per head and the bar will be open!

Please let us know if you will be attending by emailing us via info@knaresborough-striders.org.uk, messaging us on facebook or adding your name to the sign up sheet on the notice board down at KCC.

Make sure you come down to hopefully see us presented with the Mob Match trophy!
