Tuesday 22nd May will see a new club event, open to all members!
Inspired by a group of our runners who have been challenging themselves along one of our local and beautiful routes, this is a chance to test yourself over a shorter distance!
The ‘St.Robert’s Rush’ is a 1-mile time trial along Abbey Road, starting right outside the steps to St.Robert’s Cave and ending just a hundred yards before the Half Moon pub. For the unaquainted, it’s an undulating and tree-lined tarmac route adjacent to the River Nidd popular with runners, walkers and cyclists. We’ll pass the cave, views of the Lido, the site of the ruined Abbey and the famous wood carvings – although it may not be an evening for admiring the scenery!
The route will be accurately measured and marshalled by our own members. Runners will set off in small groups of similar ability.
Entry is free and we hope that – like our recent 5k time trial – as many as possible of our members will take part. We hope to repeat the event later this year so that you can measure your summer progress. All Runners should meet at the Cricket club as close to 7pm as possible to register, with the first group of runners jogging down to the start with a leader at 7.30pm.
