Tonight (Tuesday 13th August) sees the second of this year’s club 1-mile time trials: St. Robert’s Rush! There will therefore be no structured session this evening.
Entry is free and we hope that as many of our members as possible will once again take part. All runners should meet at the Cricket club from 7pm as possible to register, with the first group of runners jogging down to the start with a leader at 7.30pm.
For the unaquainted, this is a chance to test yourself over the classic mile distance along our course on Abbey Road, starting right outside the steps to St.Robert’s Cave and ending just a hundred yards before the Half Moon pub. It’s an undulating and tree-lined tarmac route adjacent to the River Nidd popular with runners, walkers and cyclists. We pass the cave, views of the Lido, the site of the ruined Abbey and the famous wood carvings – although there may not be time to admire the scenery!
The route is accurately measured and marshalled by our own members, with runners setting off in groups of similar ability.
