Our shortest club event returns next Tuesday (13th July) – here are the details!
Our shortest club event – the 1 mile ‘St.Robert’s Rush’ Time Trial is back next Tuesday and we’re delighted to confirm that it will be a ‘live’ event, rather than virtual! It also serves as the 8th round in this year’s Club Championship!
It’s your chance to test yourself over the classic mile distance along Abbey Road, starting right outside the steps to St.Robert’s Cave and ending just a hundred yards before the Half Moon pub. For the unacquainted, it’s an undulating and tree-lined tarmac route adjacent to the River Nidd popular with runners, walkers and cyclists. You pass the cave, views of the Lido, the site of the ruined Abbey and the famous wood carvings – although there is not normally much time to admire all that scenery!
Previously we’ve set off in three ‘waves’, but on this occasion we have asked group leaders to take you through the course in smaller groups as part of your club run that evening. Times will be staggered in the usual fashion via the booking sheet. If you don’t want to take part, but still wish to run with a group, no worries – just jog ahead through the mile and cheer your fellow striders on their way. Leaders will take meet you at the Cricket Club and include a warm-up and cool-down run as part of the evening too.
Head over to our Training Book-in page now to book your place.
Previous times have varied between around 5 and 10minutes so at least it will be over quickly and (with the exception of perhaps the Bed Race) it might be the fastest mile you ever run!
