This was a tough season for Striders which is reflected in their Division positions. Senior Men were 9th of 9 in Division 2 and the Veteran men were 7th of 12 in Division. 1. The Ladies fared better ,Seniors were 3rd of 9 in Division 2 and the Veterans 6th of 11 in the Premier Division. Turn outs were a bit low overall, clearly affected by Flu virus, some injuries and personal circumstance. However on viewing the events the effort put in by our 30 participants who did at least one run each, could not be faulted. Well done. A further well done to Ian and Edna who both completed all events and will have a memento for that at seasons end.

The highest ranked man for Striders was Steve in 95th place, for the Ladies Nicola finished in 18th place. Three Ladies ranked high in there Categories
Nicola LV 45 2nd
Sima LV 40 4th
Sue LV 60 4th
This season saw 8 new members run in the League, Steve and Gareth
Debbie,Lisa Amy, Baz, Georgina and Laura. Hope to see you all next season , and bring a friend.
Finally we had two successes at the final event at Temple Newsam, the squad erected our gazebo so well it did not blow away like other clubs and the Lady Vets team came 1st in the Premier League.

Peco Cross country No 5 Temple Newsam House

This was the  last Fixture in the Series and   9 Ladies and 7 men tackled this tough course on a cold windy day with lots of sapping mud  particularly  on the  long run in . Not one ounce  of effort was spared and everybody ran superbly. Plenty of food left after the  “do”  on Saturday was brought  by our foresighted Ladies and was so welcomed at the end. Well done All.

Next  up  –Peco  Relays 25/3/18,  excellent event last year. Local venue 2018.  Info out soon as I have it. Eric

Club Championship–Age graded results from Muddy boots 10k

The Muddy boots 10k had 19 runners involved for Club Championship points.   In the Senior Ladies  the ever improving Clare leads the field, Sue  has her nose in front in the Lady Vets. The Senior men was contested by only 2 members, James Ireland takes an early lead and in the Male Vets Ian  was 1st in the Category that could be most well fought this season.

The next 3 events in the Championship are  Liversedge half Marathon (now full unfortunately) 18/2/18.   Dentdale 14    10/3/18,   places still available, a scenic run in the Dales.  The Ben Campbell 10k 7/4/18 from The White Horse Car Park near Sutton Bank.  Details of events are on the Club Calendar, listed on the Club Championship page and on the Club notice board.

After 3 events a Master sheet will be available to view all standings. More information/queries Eric, Tuesday nights at Club mainly.

Peco Cross Country 17/18 – Race 5 @ TEMPLE NEWSAM (11/02/18)

A great venue for this end of season run.  Can we get a massive turn out for this run and climb the league?

Men start at 11.00 with the Ladies at 11.10.

The Peco organiser has commented many runners are competing but not registering and therefore not paying. He will be checking after race 5 that the number of runners equates to the amount of fees paid, and threatening points deductions for offending Clubs.

Finally the Peco Relays are to be held 25/03/18. This was a great event in 2017. It is teams of 3.The venue is not decided yet but most likely to  be in Leeds. Any member of the Club can participate you  DO NOT   need to have registered for Cross country to participate. When the venue is announced  I will publicise that and what the course is.  Last year it was multi terrain.

Thanks, Eric
