Last night 14/4 was the 2nd Registration for Summer Road League races. Have I missed anyone??? Please contact me by Sunday night (17/4) if you want to run in the first event (05/05).
If you want to run but cannot do the first race clearly you can still register for the other races after May 5th.

This Thursday sees the second night of registration to compete in the Summer Road League – the first event being on 05/05/16 at Ilkley.
Please bring with you £10 , this payment is for upto 5 races (you must complete 2 races to qualify for the Handicap). After viewing the disclaimer, I will register you and issue a number to keep for each race.

The quality/structured session will be on grass this Tuesday evening. Please bring suitable footwear as the grass is rather wet!
Eric will be taking entries for the Harrogate & District Summer Road League on Tuesday 05/04/16. The fee is £10, which covers you for all 5 races in the series. If you are wanting to sign up, please come down a little earlier then usual, to allow Eric to sort the paperwork.
This series of events is open to all. Post race food is included in the entry fee.

A trip to the Seaside
The Easter weekend got off to an eggcellent start for Andrea Price and Dawn Richardson as they took on a race in sunny Bridlington. They completed the ‘Easter 5 Mile Dash’ in 44:58 and 47:49 respectively.
parkrun – Five events visited
Windy and overcast conditions greeted parkrunners on Saturday morning. Striders were represented by fifteen members at five different events.
Starting with Harrogate, Sean Brennan and Nicola Carter had an eggciting battle to finish 3 seconds apart, finishing in 22:13 and 22:16. Gareth Conkleton and Nick Wallen were next across the finish line, completing the 3 lap course with cracking times of 23:10 and 24:49. Rob Charlesworth (28:58) and Dawn Richardson (30:02) completed the Striders line up.
At York, Guy Close, a regular visitor to this event on the Knavesmire, clocked 19:24.
Fountains Abbey was visited by four Striders. Ian Mitchell took on the event for the first time and finished in 20:39. Tom Burrell achieved a PB with a time of 26:46 and he was closely followed by a PBing Tracy Allison (27:39) and Tony Everitt (27:44).
Up the A1 in Northallerton, Andy Robinson equaled his PB at the event, finishing in 20:01 to take finish token number 2. Joining him was Julian Carr who completed the 2 lap course in 23:08.
Down in London at the Dulwich parkrun, Tom Calvert secured a speedy 18:42 and Derek Calvert smashed his PB to finish in 22:08.
Wetherby parkrun visit – Saturday 2nd April
Our next ‘first Saturday of the month’ parkrun visit is to Wetherby. Meet us there or if you want to participate in the car share, please meet at Knaresborough Cricket Club for 08:15am (08:20am departure).
As most of you know it is the Time Trial(5k) at Club on Tuesday 29th March. Please come down a little earlier to register for the event.
The fixture list of BOFRA events for 2016 is now published to their website.
The 1st race is from Ilkley on April 28th. The fixtures includes such delights as Kilnsey Crag and Badgerstone relays to name but a few. Many of the races are in the Yorkshire Dales and some are attached to village galas.
Many have chidrens races of various age groups. Races tend to be shorter than FRA events but still worth giving a try.
Simply put ‘BOFRA’ in a Google search to get all details.

Since the original ‘Zero to Hero – Class of 2016’ article was published on 13/03/16, we have had four more graduates. Completing a 5km run at a club night were the following –

The club has successfully delivered its second ‘Zero to Hero’ course – taking novice runners through an 8 week plan to get them from light jogging upto completing a 5km run. We have had 16 graduates this year who all deserve a massive ‘WELL DONE’ from all club members.
